Being a hotel billing software, Maxidoo Hotel Management Software allows multi-user access so that the authorised persons can access it from different locations to remain in sync with the daily business happenings. My Task

Maxidoo, a powerful cloud-based solution for hotels, sought to enhance its user experience (UX) by expanding from a web application to an Android app. As the UI/UX designer for this project, my mission was to not only replicate the web app's functionality but also improve its usability while staying true to the established brand identity.

The Challenge :

Maxidoo already thrived as a web application, but there was a growing demand for mobile accessibility, especially among hotel staff who might not be tech-savvy. The challenges were clear:

User-centred Approach : Design a user interface that caters to hotel owners, managers, and staff, ensuring ease of use for all, regardless of technical expertise.

Maintaining Brand Consistency : Replicate the look and feel of the existing web app while optimizing it for the mobile environment.

Audience Personas :

Hotel Owner (Persona: John) : A middle-aged hotel owner who values efficiency. John is not particularly tech-savvy and needs an intuitive solution to manage his hotel operations effectively.

Hotel Manager (Persona: Sarah) : Sarah, the hotel manager, is tech-savvy and values a platform that streamlines tasks, enabling her to focus on guest experience.

Hotel Staff (Persona: David) : David, a frontline staff member, isn't very comfortable with technology. The app must be user-friendly, allowing him to perform daily tasks effortlessly.

Design Process :

User Research : Understanding the varying needs and pain points of John, Sarah, and David was paramount in informing design decisions.

Mobile-First Approach : Crafting a mobile-centric design that prioritized Android's unique experience, simplifying complex web features for handheld devices, particularly to accommodate David's limited tech proficiency.

Brand Alignment : Ensuring the Android app retained the brand's visual identity while optimizing for mobile screens, maintaining John's familiarity with Maxidoo.

Usability Testing : Conducting comprehensive usability testing, involving hotel staff like David, to gather invaluable feedback.

Iteration : Continuously refining the Android app's design based on user input and evolving requirements, ensuring that both Sarah's tech-savvy preferences and David's user-friendliness needs were met.

Key Achievements :

Enhanced Usability : The Android app became more intuitive, bridging the tech gap for users like David, while still being efficient for Sarah.

Seamless Brand Transition : The app retained Maxidoo's established brand identity, ensuring John felt at home while adapting to the mobile environment.

Multi-Platform Accessibility : Users could now access Maxidoo from both web and Android, fostering convenience for Sarah and user-friendliness for David.
